Protect Universal Credit support for disabled young people
The government is still considering whether to scrapping Universal Credit health payments for under 22s.
We all want disabled young people who can and want to work to have better opportunities and support. But cutting financial support is not the way to achieve this.
Some disabled young people could lose more than £600 a month under the proposals. Many are still in education, supported work or life-skills programmes, while others have disabilities so significant that paid employment may never be realistic.
Better opportunities and financial security should go hand in hand.
Please ask your MP to urge the government to protect Universal Credit support for disabled young people and invest in the support and opportunities they need.
